Observation 105 :   Taking Public Transport Forward in North Wales

Transport plans are being prepared  by Taith, a consortium of 6 North Wales local authorities.  These plans will cover the Snowdonia area and are separate from the Snowdonia Green Key strategy.  We have reproduced below an advert which appeared in the Chronicle on April 10, 2003.

The response period is very short i.e 20 days from the appearance of the advert.  Freedom to Choose - Snowdonia will make a response but others are urged to respond directly by 30th April 2003

These days public transport has an increasingly important role in meeting the social and environmental agenda. The six local authorities in North Wales are working on their new Public Transport Strategy which will be presented to the National Assembly in the Summer.

We need your help now by telling us how we can make public transport better for you and others. Whether you are a regular user of buses and trains or not, whether you use special services or only use air services we want to know your views about what is right, what is wrong and what you think we should be doing about it.

The Strategy will cover accessibility, service levels, interchange, new solutions, facilities, information, fares and ticketing - in fact every aspect of public transport in the region.

Your comments and views are important to us. If you have something to say, please write to us before 30th April 2003 at; Taith RPTS, c/o Principal Transportation Officer, Highways, Transportation and Property Department, Isle of Anglesey County Council, County Offices, Llangefni, LL77.7TW, Or e-mail us at Mylnput@Thesearemyviews.com

Whilst we cannot undertake to reply to all respondents, ail comments will be taken into account.

The Taith consortium of local authorities is made up of : Anglesey, Conwy, Denbighshire, Flintshire, Gwynedd and Wrexham Councils. The Taith Public Transport Strategy is being developed by Elan Public Transport Consultancy, WSP Group and Simpson Carpenter in partnership with the Taith consortium of local authorities.
