Residents in Snowdonia can breathe easy after
the Snowdonia National Park Authority confirmed that there are no plans to
introduce congestion charges to curb traffic through their countryside.
Officials at the park were shocked to read
report in a national newspaper claiming there had been plans drawn up for a
congestion charge following the introduction of the controversial scheme in
central London.
Llinos Angharad, of the SNPA, said: "We
were very surprised to read the article, as there are no proposals by
ourselves or Gwynedd County Council to introduce congestion charges. There
has been no debate whatsoever on the issue."
