Proposed DRAFT CONSTITUTION (17.07.02)
To be adopted at an A.G.M. (date to be announced) 


1 The name of the organisation shall be ‘Freedom to Choose - Snowdonia’
2.

 Its purpose shall be:

To monitor the activities of public bodies and other agencies concerned with issues affecting the Snowdonia National Park and surrounding area and to provide a channel of communication on these issues.

The organisation will aim to:

  1. represent both local residents and people from outside Snowdonia, in providing input on matters of concern.

  2. reconcile the freedom of choice of the individual and the future integrity of the National Park and surrounding area.

  3. support the principles of the National Parks Act which fosters “air and exercise and the study of nature” and the obligation “to facilitate access to these experiences”

  4. encourage the enjoyment of the Snowdonia National Park and surrounding area.

4 Membership shall be open to all those who support the aims and purpose of the organisation.
5 Management of the organisation shall be vested in a committee consisting of ten (10) members of the organisation elected at an A.G.M.  Six (6) members shall form a quorum.
6 The committee shall elect its own officers consisting of Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary and Treasurer and such other officers as may be deemed appropriate.
7 The committee shall have the power to co-opt other members or fill vacancies during the year, as necessary.
8 The committee shall meet at such times and places as it decides necessary, the secretary giving seven (7) days notice of all such meetings.
9 The committee shall have the power to raise funds and to invite and receive contributions to cover the costs of the organisation.
10  The committee shall be responsible for calling an Annual General Meeting at which officers’ reports and audited accounts shall be submitted and a committee shall be elected.
11 Other general meetings may be called either by a majority of the committee or by agreement between not less than ten (10) members of the organisation. Accidental failure to advise any member or members shall not invalidate the proceedings.
12 The agenda for general meetings shall be circulated 14 days before the meeting and only those items on the agenda may be discussed and voted upon.
13 Any proposed alterations to this constitution shall be notified to the secretary at least 21 days before an A.G.M. and shall only be adopted if agreed by a majority of two thirds (2/3) of members present at such a meeting.
14 In the event of the organisation being wound up, any assets remaining after payment of all proper debts and liabilities shall be transferred to a charitable organisation with similar aims to those of this organisation.
