Report – sustainable tourism in Snowdonia
The eagerly awaited report commissioned by the Snowdonia Green Key
Partnership is now available.
The Partnership welcomes such a frank report and recommendations
made. On the basis of these recommendations and the outcomes of the
consultation period the Partnership accepts that the emphasis,
direction and means by which the Initiative is implemented must
change. The Partnership hopes to work with various communities, user
groups and other bodies over the coming months to identify ways of
improving the local tourism product and of developing public
transport such that it becomes a realistic and enjoyable complement
to the car rather than a compulsory substitute to it.
The report signals the beginning of an important phase for the
Initiative. The Partnership looks forward to working with
communities and other bodies in Northern Snowdonia in order to
identify methods of delivering the recommendations made that will in
turn bring benefits to the economy and environment of northern
Snowdonia.
The partnership remains fully committed to the Initiative and to the
overarching principle of promoting a more sustainable approach
towards tourism, public transport and economic development in
Northern Snowdonia.
The report will be available on the Gwynedd Council, Conwy County
Borough Council and Snowdonia National Park Authority web sites as
